With Windows 7 and Windows Live Essentials, your PC will help you stay connected to the people and things you care about and do it safely. Windows Live Essentials is a free suite of programs for e-mail, photos, instant messaging, and more. It can be downloaded from the Web and, for some new PCs, comes pre-installed. Windows Live Essentials includes the following programs:
Windows Live Mail
Windows Live Mail is a great program for accessing Windows Live Hotmail®, Windows Live Calendar, and Windows Live Contacts—and you can even access previously synchronized e-mail, calendar, and contact information when you’re offline. POP and IMAP support makes it easy to access and manage third- party e-mail services such as
Yahoo!*, Gmail, and AOL. And, with built-in photo mail, you can send photos to friends without overloading their Inboxes with large attachments. Instead, they’ll receive light, embed- ded thumbnail images, along with links to easily download the full-resolution versions or to see the images played as a slideshow.
Note: POP access is available only with Yahoo!Plus, not with free Yahoo! e-mail accounts.
