Diagnostic Utility Does Not Show All Installed Ports
Ifthe dia gnostic utility does not showall the ports you installed,comp lete
the followingsteps:
1. Verifythe hardware resources, as follows:
a. Select Start»Settings»Control Panel and double-click on the
niportsicon.
b. In the Por ts list, select a port and click on the Settings button.
If the serial port is missing from the Ports list, reinstall the
hardwareand software. For instructions on how to do so, refer to
the installation and verificationch apter for your hardware
platform.
c. In the General Port Settings dialog box, click on the Resources
buttonto view the resources for the port.
d. Checkthe hardware resources. If they are in conflict, refer to the
previoussection, Resolving Resou rce Conflicts.
2. Makesure that the N ational Instruments serial driveris installed,
asfollows:
a. Locate the serial.sys filein the WinNT\system32\drivers
directory.
b. If the serial.sys file is missing, reinstall the har dware and
software.For instructions on how to do so, refer to the installation
and verificationchapter for your hardware platform.
c. Right-click on the serial.sys file and select Properties.
d. ClickontheVersiontab.If the Company Name is Microsoft,
the National Instruments serial driveris not installed properl y.
Tosolve this problem, reinstall the NI-Serial software. For
instructionsonhowtodoso,refertotheinstallationand
verificationchapter for your hardware platform.
3. Physically makesure t he correct number of boards and ports are
installed.
Address TestFailed
If the address test failed, Interrupt test cannot be
performederror message appears, you m ight havean address conflict
withlegacy boards in your system. To solve this problem, change the base
addressesassigned to your legacy boards. For instructions on how to do so,
referto yo urlegacy board documentation.
