NEC OS Restore CD
The NEC OS Restore CD contain s the operating system an d d evi ce
drivers for the hardwar e that was factory-insta lled in your system. Use
this CD to rest ore your system to its origin al factory sta te if a problem
occurs that causes dat a l oss or corruption.
After restoring the oper ating system, use th e NEC Ap p lication and Driver
CD to install your applications, optional drivers, and online documents.
See NEC Application and Driver CD earlier in this chapter for
information on using the Application and Driver CD. You can also use the
Application and Driver CD at any time to restore an application, driver, or
utility.
Before starting, we recomm end that you first conta ct NECC for assistance
(see Chapter 6 for conta ct information).
Use the followi ng steps to p er form the OS Rest ore with the boot able
Master Restore disket te and the OS Restore CD.
The NEC OS Rest ore program d eletes all th e
data on your hard drive. If possible, back up your data before performing
an OS restore.
1. If possible, back up all your cr i tical data files to an ext ern al storage
device (diskettes, s er ver hard drive, other storag e d evi ces ) .
2. Remove any di s kette or CD-RO M disc from your s ystem.
3. Power down you r system and in sert the bootabl e Master Rest ore
diskette into the diskette drive and the auto-start NEC OS Restore CD
into the CD-ROM drive.
The system boots, the C D aut o-starts, and the NEC Comp uters Inc.
Restore screen appear s.
4. At the Restore screen, cl i ck Y to continue (or N to exit th e program).
A warning screen appear s , wi th a prompt that continuin g the restore
will destroy all data on your primary drive.
