Troubleshooting

Before contacting a Sony Service center, please check the following items. If the problem persists, contact a Sony Service center.

The AIT library does not work.

•Verify that the power switch is turned on.

•Verify that the power cable is connected correctly.

•Verify that the shutter of the cartridge dock is closed.

•Verify that the terminator is attached correctly.

•Verify that the SCSI cable is correctly connected from the AIT library to the host computer.

•Verify that the power of the host computer is turned on.

•Verify that an error code is displayed on the LCD panel of the AIT library. For information about error codes, refer to the “Error Code List” (page 98) in this chapter.

•Verify that 10 seconds after restart the power is turned on.

•After restarting the library, when “Error 07000001” appears, press the [CANCEL] button twice, then on the “Configuration” menu, set “Barcode” to “NO”. Restart the library. When the AIT library is not equipped with a bar code reader and the bar code setting is “YES”, an error appears when the library starts or a cartridge is set.

•If an error appears when you turn on the power for the first time after installing the AIT library, verify the rear of the AIT library to make sure that the transport screw was removed from the Shipping position (upper hole). t“Unpacking” (page 13) in Chapter 2, “Installation”.

•Try disconnecting the network cable, if connected.

The AIT library and the host computer cannot communicate with each other.

•Verify that the SCSI IDs of the AIT library, AIT drives, and host computer are unique. Duplicate SCSI IDs cannot be used on one SCSI bus. t “Setting the SCSI ID” (page 23) in Chapter 2, “Installation”.

•Verify that the SCSI cable is connected correctly. t“Connecting to the Host Computer” (page 17) in Chapter 2, “Installation”.

•Verify that the SCSI adapter card is correctly installed in the computer.

•Verify that all the connected SCSI devices are LVD devices. The AIT library is an LVD device. Do not connect an HVD device to the library.

•Verify that all the devices on the SCSI bus are Wide SCSI devices. The AIT library is a Wide SCSI device. All the devices on the SCSI bus must be Wide SCSI devices. (Wide-Narrow adapters can also be used.)

•Make the length of the SCSI cable, which connects the host computer and the device at the end of the SCSI bus, shorter than 10 meters (32 ft. 9.7 in.).

•Verify that the SCSI bus is terminated correctly. t “SCSI Specifications” (page 96) in this chapter.

•Verify that the AIT library supports the application software. For guidance on application software that can be used with the AIT library and on supported operating systems, contact your dealer.

•Verify that the application software is correctly installed and correctly setup on the host computer.
