5.5.14 Typeface

The Star LaserPrinter4 uses Courierfont as its defaultFX-850font.

You use the Select Emulationsupersetcommandto switch into another emulationto selecta cartridgeor downloadedfont,but youwon’tbe ableto bring that font back into FX-850mode.That’sbecauseFX-850emulation alwaysstarts with Courieras its defaultfont.

5.5.15 Underline

The underlinecommandunder FX-850 emulationputs underlinesunder spaces as well as characters.To turn underlineon or off you send this command:

<ESC>– n

If n is an odd number,underliningis turnedon. If n is an evennumber,underliningis turnedoff.

5.5.16 Master Select

The MasterSelectcommandis a shortcutyoucan useto specifywhichfont you want to print with.MasterSelectlets you combineseveralcommands in one—halfof allthefontattributeswithonefellswoop.MasterSelectalso cancelsthe featuresyou do notselectwith it.

The only restrictionis that you can’t combinecondensedor monospaced pitcheswith proportionalspacing.If you mix them you’lljust get propor- tional spacing.

To select amongthe variousprint options,use this command:
