5.2.1Puttingtheprinter onlineor offline

You can send <XOF- and <XON>controlcodes (describedin Chapter2 under“SerialInterface”)to putyourprinterofflineandthenonlineagain.If youareusingaparallelinterface,anydatayourcomputersendsafteryouput the printerofflinewill not be printed.

To put the printerofflinesendthis controlcode:

<XoF~(sometimes shownas cDC3>)

To puttheprinterbackonline,eitherpressONLINEon the controlpanelor send this command:

<XOD (sometimesshownas cDC1>)

If the printer is alreadyonline when you send the <XOW command,the printerwill cancelany incompleteline of print.

5.2.2 Reset

TheFX-850emulationresetcommandreturnstheprintertoitsdefaultinitial parametem.Whenyousendthiscommandattheendof apnnt job theprinter will resetits parametersonly afterpreviouscommandshavefinished.You should,however,taketheprecautionof puttinga formfeedbefo~ the reset, to make SUEyou lose no print data.

To reset the Star LaserPrinter4, sendthis command:

When you sendthe Bellcontrolcodethe Star LaserPrinter4 will soundits beeperforhalfa second(assumingyouhaven’tturnedit off withthecontrol panelmenu):
