printits testpattern.
2.1.2 Parametersettings
Fromthe panel youcan also changethe pararnetemthatdefinehow your
printerworks. Parameterjust means“variable”. If you’re familiarwith
earlierkinds of pnntem, you’ll understandthat laser printer parameters
controlpn%ymuchthesamethingsDIPswitchesdo.(ADIPswitchor’’dual
in-linepackageswitch”isasetofsmallswitchesthatcontrolvariousprinter
functions.)
Theprinterstorestheseparametemaseasy-to-useprogrammenuitemsthat
youcan selectfrom thecontrolpanel. Theseparametemspecify:

Ad@auZtisthesettingthe StarLaserPrinter4willuseif noneisspecifically
selectedbyaprogram.Whenyoufirsttumonorlaterreset yourprinterthese
defaultsettingswilltake effect.
Yourmainuse forthe controlpanelwilllikelybe to setthe defaultsettings
youwant forthese parameters.However,youwillprobablyfmd thepanel
convenienttoowhen you want to switchbetween manualand automatic
paperfeed.
