for such software.Ask your dealer about f.userControl,Printworksfor
Lusers,PCLPakandRAMResidentPrintmerge.There’snotmuchpointin
reinventingthewheel.
2.5.2 TheStar LaserPrinter4 superset
Besides the commandsthat emulate other printers, your laser printer
understandsfourothercommandscalledthe Star LaserPrinter4superset.
The StarLaserPrinterahvays understandssupersetcommands;itdoesn’t
matterwhichemulationmodeyourprinterisusingat themoment.Superset
Escapesequencecommandsstart with ~Sb [so youcan quickly spot
themin alist ofcommands.
Onesupersetcommandgivesyouanotherwaytoswitchfromoneemulation
to another:yousend theChangeEmulationsupersetcommandinstead of
usingthecontrolpanel.The secondsupersetcommandletsyouchangethe
printingorientation,so youcan print sidewaysupthe length ofthe page,
insteadofacrossitswidthin theusualway.Thethirdsupersetcommandlets
yotichangethepapersize.Thefourthsupersetcommandletsyouchangethe
papercassette.

YoucanthinkofthesupersetChangeEmulationcommandasthekeytoyour
StarLaserPrinter 4. TheChange Emulationsupersetcommand letsyou
switchfmm one set ofprintercommandsto another“on thefly,” through
software.
ThisisthecommandthatdefineswhatothercommandstheStarLaserPrinter
4willaccept.WithChangeEmulationyouindicatewhichprinteremulation
programyouwant theprinterto use.
