SCANNING WITH THE WINDOWS IMAGE ACQUISITION

INTERFACE

Microsoft Windows includes its own set of options—known as Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)—for acquiring images from scanners, digital cameras, and other digital devices.

The instructions in this section are for scanning using WIA on computers running Windows XP or Windows Vista. If your computer is running an earlier version of Windows, it cannot use WIA to scan.

Many Windows XP and Windows Vista applications have commands to access WIA, including PaperPort. To access WIA from PaperPort choose WIA: Visioneer 9420 from the scanner drop-down list. See page 35.

Note: To scan transparencies you must scan from the TWAIN Advanced Interface. See “Scanning 35mm Slides and Negatives” on page 61 for details.

This section shows how to use Microsoft Paint to scan using the WIA interface.

To scan using WIA from Microsoft Paint:

1.On the Windows taskbar, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, then click Paint.

The Paint window opens.
