Backup Power Supply

OmniSwitch 6600 Family switches provide one factory-installed power supply per chassis. OmniSwitch 6624, 6600-U24, and 6648 switches provide one bay for the optional OS6600-BPS backup power supply while OmniSwitch 6602-24 and 6602-48 switches provide one bay for the optional OS6602-BPS or OS6602-BPS-DC backup power supplies. This backup power supply bay is located on the chassis rear panel (see page 2-20for details).

Product, Safety, and Compliance Information. Refer to the “Regulatory Compliance and Safety Information” chapter for detailed information.

Power Connector Socket. Type IEC-320-C13(OS6600-BPS and OS6602-BPS). Supports one 10 amp power cord.

It is recommended that you use Alcatel- provided power cords.

Backup Power Supply Front Panel (OS6600-BPS Shown)

OmniSwitch 6600-P24 switches use the external OS6600-BPS-P backup power supply, which provides backup electrical current used for switch functions and PoE ports. The OS6600-BPS-P contains two built- in power supplies—one supplying 55 Watts (100 Watts maximum) for switch functions and the other supplying 210 watts for PoE functions. For information on setting up the OS6600-BPS-P, refer to Chapter 3, “Installing and Managing Power over Ethernet (PoE).”
