To replace a

When the drive is ordered as a spare part, it comes formatted for use with one of two ESDI Fixed Disk Drive Controller boards.
□ESDI Fixed Disk Drive Controller Board Assy. No. WD1007AWAH, which is a 1:1 interleave and drive type 35.
□ESDI Fixed Disk Drive Controller Board Assy. No. WD1005WAH, which is a 3:1 interleave and drive type 25.
Examine the label on the fixed disk drive to determine the controller board for which it was formatted. If the installed controller board is not the board for which the fixed disk drive was formatted, you must reformat the fixed disk drive. Use the UNCONDITIONAL FORMAT in ADVANCED DIAGNOSTICS Version 5.04 or later. Failure to reformat can result in the fixed disk drive not operating with the installed controller. After performing an UNCONDITIONAL FORMAT, perform SURFACE ANALYSIS to detect and mark any surface defects.
