route add <Jetdirect IP Address> <system IP Address>

The <Jetdirect IP address> is the IP address configured on the HP Jetdirect print server, and <system IP address> is the IP address of the workstation's network card that is attached to the same physical LAN as the print server.

For example, to create a route from your workstation with IP address 169.254.2.1 to a print server with a default IP address of 192.0.0.192, enter the following:

route add 192.0.0.192 169.254.2.1

A typical Telnet session

Initiating a typical Telnet session is illustrated here.

To set configuration parameters, you must set up a Telnet session from your system to the HP Jetdirect print server.

1.At the system prompt, type the following: telnet <IP address>

The <IP address> is the IP address listed on the HP Jetdirect configuration page. See HP Jetdirect configuration pages on page 135.

2.A connection to the HP Jetdirect print server is displayed. If the server responds with connected to IP address, press Enter twice to initialize the Telnet connection.

3.Type the user name and password, if required.
