NIC destinations are case sensitive and will not be recognized if they are typed incorrectly. By default, they are all lower case. If you are setting up a NetWare 4 or 5 environment, the destination must be renamed to uppercase to match the PCONSOLE entry.

The NIC can be used in a NetWare 4 or 5 environment with either of the following options:

Set the NIC up as a PSERVER, replacing a dedicated printer.

Set the NIC up as an RPRINTER, interacting with an existing PSERVER (see page -166).

NOTE: Following a PSERVER setup, bindery emulation is required.

To configure the NIC as a PSERVER in a NetWare 4 or 5 environment:

1.Log in to the Novell as supervisor.

2.Enter PCONSOLE.

3.Press F4.

4.Select Print Queues.

5.Click Insert to add a queue.

6.Type in a new queue name and press ENTER.

7.Press Escape.

8.Select Print Servers.

9.Click Insert to add the new print server.

10.Type the name of the NIC. The default is M_xxxxxx or M302_xxxxx for the Wireless Adapter where, xxxxxx represents the last six digits of the NIC address found on the configuration printout or control panel settings under Ethernet Parameters, MAC address (e.g., M_091C1A or M302_00008).

11.Select this new print server and press ENTER.

12.Select Printers.

13.Click Insert to add a printer to the list.
