HIf NTSC and PAL external references are configured
the same, the monitor automaticallyoperates in the
same televisionstandard as the EXT REF i nput.
When NTSCand PAL external references are
configured differently, the monitor’s operating
standardis determined by the standard of the dis-
played video instead of the EXT REF i nput. Once the
operating standardis determined, the monitor
immediately switchesto the appropriate input for
reference timing.
Gain MenuHAny one ofthree calibrated gain ratios can be selected:
X1, X5, or X10. Variable gain is also available, indepen-
dent of the other gain settings. W hen variable gain is on,
the left bezel control adjusts signal gain.
HIn Lightning mode, the three calibra ted gain ratios are
available, as well as two inde pendent variable gain
settings. VAR V GAIN adjusts the gain of thevertical
portion of the signal and VARHGAINadjuststhe gai n of
the horizontal portion.
HAudio or Time Code gain is set when AUDI O orTIME
CODE display is selected. Gain choi ces are 0 dBu, 4
dBu, 8 dBu, or 12 dBu.
HWhen variable gain is turned off, the instrument re turns
to the calibrated gain setting. Operator adjustments
made with variable gainwill be restored when variable
gain is selected again.
