The dc source is shipped with the output compensation set LOW mode, which provides stable operation for all types of phones. The HIGH mode setting provides better transient response performance for phones that have input capacitances greater than 5 μF. In High mode, operation of the dc source will be unstable when connected to phones that have input capacitances less than 5 μF. Note that if the dc source senses that there is no load on the output, it automatically switches from High mode to Low mode.

H2 is an additional compensation mode that guarantees that the dc source stays in High compensation mode at all times. (Option 004 units are shipped with the compensation set HIGH. *RST is also HIGH.)

NOTE: If you set the output compensation to HIGH mode and you want the unit to power up in HIGH mode, you must first save the desired output settings in non-volatile memory location 0 with the *SAV command. Then program the dc source to power up with the settings stored in memory location 0 with the OUTP:PON:STAT RCL0 command.
