Firmware Upgrades

Overview

Firmware upgrades allow you to install the latest available operating system for your touch panel(s). This section provides the information required for removing old firmware ICs (Integrated Chips) and installing new firmware upgrade ICs.

You will need a Phillips screwdriver and a non-conducting flat-blade tool to slip under the installed firmware ICs to lift them up and out of their sockets.

AXT-CV and AXT-CA

To install the firmware upgrade into the AXT-CV and AXT-CA CATP:

1.Discharge the static electricity from your body by touching a grounded object.

2.Remove the AXlink connector (and other connectors if applicable) from the rear side of the CATP.

3.Flip the CATP face down onto a soft cloth, and remove the four Phillips-head screws from the bottom panel. Then, gently remove the panel.

4.Gently rotate the circuit card backward until you can lay it down flat with the batteries exposed. Figure 198 shows the location of the firmware IC sockets on the circuit card.
