Configuring Dial Up Networking On Client PC (Windows NT Workstation)

Follow the Modem manufacturer's instruction when installing the modem to the INDeX CCM Client PC with Windows NT Operating System.

Dial-Up Networking is the Client version of Windows NT Remote Access Service (RAS). Dial-Up Networking lets you connect to your office network from a remote site; anywhere there is an outlet for your computer and phone jack for your modem. Dial-Up Networking works by calling the dial-up server and establishing a telephone connection with the network. Once you have connected, you work with all your applications as though you were physically in the office, directly connected to the network or local database.

Before commencing with the installation process, ensure no other applications are currently running, as the Windows NT requires a reboot of the PC at the end of this installation.

1.Insert the Windows NT Workstation CD in the CD-ROM drive, close the Windows NT CD-ROM screen.

2.From the Windows NT desktop, double click My Computer and then double click Dial-up Networking, the following screen appears:

3.Click Install. Enter the file location as X:\i386 (X is the letter associated with the CD ROM drive).

4.Click OK to add a RAS device.

Note

There will usually be only one RAS Capable device.

5.With the device selected, click OK, the following screen appears, from which click to select Dial out and Receive call as shown:

6. Click OK to proceed.
