Headset support

AlthoughCisco performs limited internal testing of third-party headsets for use with the Cisco DX600 Series
phones,Cisco does not certify or support products from headset (or handset) vendors.
Ciscorecommends the use of good-quality headsets that are screened against unwanted radio frequency (RF)
andaudio frequency (AF) signals. Depending on the quality of the headsets and their proximity to other
devicessuch as mobile phones and two-way radios, some audio noise or echomay still occur. An audible
humor buzz may be heard by either the remote party or by both you and the remote party. A range of outside
sourcescan causehumming or buzzingsounds :for example, electric lights, electric motors, orlarge PC
monitors.
Insome cases, use of a local power cube or power injector may reduce or eliminate hum.Note
Becauseof the environmental and hardware inconsistencies in the locations where Cisco DX600 Series phones
aredeployed no singleheadset solution isoptimal for allenvironments.
Ciscorecommends that customers test headsets in their intended environment to determine performance before
theymake a purchasing decision and deploy on a large scale.

Audio quality

Beyondphysical, mechanical, and technical performance, the audio portion of a headset must sound good to
theuser and to the party on the far end. Sound quality is subjective and Cisco cannot guarantee the performance
ofany headsets. However, a variety of headsets from leading headset manufacturers perform well with Cisco
DX600Series phones.For details,see the headset documentation.

3.5 mm headsets

Youcan plug a 3.5 mm headset into the headset port at the back of your phone.
Someheadsets may have hardware incompatibilities with the phone, including pinout, microphone voltage,

usedwith thephone built-in microphone for voicecalls.
