Cisco IP Phone 7960 and Cisco IP Phone 7940

The Cisco IP Phone 7960 is a full-featured, multiline phone used primarily by managers and executives. The Cisco 7960 has six programmable buttons for lines or for speed dialing, and it has four interactive soft keys.

The Cisco IP Phone 7940 is for low-to-medium-traffic users who need a minimum of directory numbers. The Cisco 7940 model has two programmable buttons for lines or speed dialing.This is the only difference between the Cisco 7960 and the Cisco 7940.

The large LCD screen shows the time and date, the phone number, the calling party name and number, and the line/call status. The display can show graphics and web-based information such as directories and stock reports.

The phone operates with IP telephony systems based on Cisco CallManager technology, H.323, or Session Initiated Protocol (SIP).

Figure 6-1shows the Cisco IP Phone 7960. The Cisco IP Phone 7940 has only two line or speed dial buttons.
