Chapter 2 Processor Cards Feature Summary

System Processing Engine Card

System redundancy is highly recommended. You can easily build in redundancy by adding SPEs for additional call-processing capabilities. For recovery, you should regularly perform a backup of all applications installed on the SPE, using the backup mechanisms that are recommended in the documentation for each application.

Note SPE200 cards that were used prior to system software release 2.1.0 are now obsolete. If you have a system with SPE200 cards and wish to install and use system software release 2.1.0 or later, you must replace the SPE200 cards with SPE310 cards. The SPE310 offers a keyboard and mouse port, a video port, and two universal serial bus (USB) ports supporting standard USB devices such as pointing devices and CD-ROM drives. The keyboard and mouse port can be used to connect simultaneously to a keyboard and a mouse, using the Y-cable that is included with the hardware. These SPE310 ports are required for

Cisco CallManager installation and upgrades on the Cisco ICS 7750, beginning with system software release 2.1.0.

Figure 2-2shows the SPE310 card.
