Fault Management Module
The Fault Management Module (FMM) is a software module that runs as a service with Windows 2000. FMM starts as part of the system initialization. As the master service on the Cisco ICS 7750, FMM is responsible for starting up, shutting down, monitoring, and coordinating the activity of the other software modules on the SPE care. It performs these functions:
•Constantly communicates with ICS System Manager and if communication with a software module is lost, the FMM attempts to correct the error by restarting a card or the system, if necessary
•Provides fault detection and recovery mechanisms in the Cisco ICS 7750
