Features of LAN-Based Switching
Technologies
Cisco Catalyst switches allow full integration of voice, video, and data applications in the Cisco ICS 7750 system. The Cisco ICS 7750 system can include the following switches:
•Catalyst 3524-PWR XL Switch, page 7-1
•Catalyst 4000 Switches, page 7-6
•Catalyst 6000 Switches, page 7-7
The Catalyst 3524-PWR XL switch and Catalyst 4000 switches allow LANs to fully integrate voice, video, and data applications. Catalyst 6000 switches are primarily for enterprise and service provider environments.
Catalyst 3524-PWR XL Switch
The Catalyst 3524-PWR XL switch was developed for use with the
Cisco ICS 7750 to allow full integration of voice, video, and data applications. The Catalyst 3524-PWR XL switch has 24 10/100 switched ports with integrated inline power, which provides DC current to devices that can accept power over unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cabling, such as the Cisco 7900 family of IP phones. The Catalyst 3524-PWR XL switch also has two Gigabit Interface Converter (GBIC)-based Gigabit Ethernet ports, which support one full-duplex link (in a point-to-point configuration) or up to nine half-duplex links (in a stack configuration) to other Gigabit Ethernet devices. Figure 7-1shows the front panel of the Catalyst 3524-PWR XL switch.
