The printer driver settings are
not correct. Check the printer driver settings to
make sure they are appropriate. If
these settings are correct, check your
application because some settings are
overridden by application settings.

for Windows, or Chapter 5 for
Macintosh.
For DOS users:
The print direction setting is
set to Bi-D in the
default-setting mode.
To obtain higher quality output, set
the print direction to Uni-D in the
default-setting mode. To enter the
default-setting mode, see “Changing
the Print Settings” in Appendix A.
Colors are different from what you expect.
Cause What to do
The color print head nozzles
are clogged. Clean the color print head. See
“Cleaning the Print Heads” later in
this chapter.
Black ink is selected in your
printer driver. Set the Ink setting to Color.
The paper is not loaded
printable side up. Check that the printable side of t he
paper is facing up.
The Media Type setting does
not match the paper loaded. Change the Media Type setting i n
your printer driver to match the ty pe
of media you have loaded.
Load media that matches the Media
Type setting you selected in the
printer driver.
