System Requirements

When using your printer with a PC

To use your printer, you need Microsoft® Windows ® 3.1,

Windows for Workgroups, Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0, or

DOS; and a shielded, twisted-pair parallel cable.

To install and use the printer software (printer driver and

utilities) included on the CD-ROM or floppy disk packed with

your printer, the following is required:

for Windows 95 and NT 4.0

Pentium or higher processor*

16MB RAM 32MB RAM or more

Operation The P power light is on but nothing prints. Nothing prints and the control panel lights are on or flashing. The printer sounds like it is printing, but nothing prints. 9-10 The self test prints well, but nothing prints from an application program. A SC 850 (or SC 850 (AT))cannot be used error appears. (Macintosh only) Printing starts too high or too low on the page. 9-12 Color documents print out in black and white. Print speed is not what you expect. Something on the page is wrong or missing. 9-14 The New Hardware Found screen appears even though the printer software has already been installed. Y The print heads moved to the ink cartridge replacement position unexpectedly. X Paper handling Paper does not feed properly from the sheet feeder. E The printer loads more than one sheet at a time. Ejected paper is wrinkled. Paper does not eject fully. E Paper feed or paper jam problems occur frequently. 9-18 Printing quality The printed image has gaps or faint areas. The printed image is blurred. The printed image is smeared. 9-20 w White horizontal lines appear in the printed image. Printing quality is not what you expect. 9-22 Colors are different from what you expect. Colors are not very vibrant. 9-24 Dots are missing in printed characters or graphics. Photographic images look grainy or rough. The Status Monitor 2 window does not appear when you are using Windows 95. 9-26 When you clean the print heads using the Head Cleaning utility, the output quality does not improve.
