When you have a voice message system (VMS) message, you see this display (the message is from the VMS extension, in this case, extension 350):

4When you are connected to the voice message system, you are directed to press certain keys on your keypad to retrieve your voice message(s). Before pressing any keys, press the <TONE> key, which sends pushbutton signals to the VMS. When you finish sending pushbutton signals, press the <TONE> key again. For a full description of the <TONE> key, see “Sending Pushbutton Tones” on page 2-87.

5When you receive a text message, you see the following initial text message display, which in this case, shows a callme message from the text message center operator. To retrieve the text message, press <MAIL>. The display indicates a message from Jane Hitel, the text message center operator.
