Toner cartridge authentication

 

HP cannot recommend use of non-HP toner cartridges, either new or remanufactured.

 

Because they are not HP products, HP cannot influence their design or control their

 

quality. Service or repair required as a result of using a non-HP cartridge is not covered

 

under the product warranty. When you use a non-HP toner cartridge, the printer cannot

 

accurately report cartridge life.

 

The HP LaserJet 4100 mfp series warns you if a non-HP toner cartridge is inserted into

 

the product. If you insert a used HP cartridge from another HP product, the MFP might

 

have to print as many as 20 printed pages to verify that the cartridge is a genuine

 

HP part.

Toner cartridge life expectancy

The life of the toner cartridge depends on the amount of toner that printing and copying jobs consume. When printing or copying text at 5 percent coverage, an HP toner cartridge lasts an average of 10,000 to 6,000 pages, depending on which cartridge is installed.

Toner cartridge storage

Do not remove the toner cartridge from its package until you are ready to use it. The shelf life of a cartridge in an unopened package is approximately 2.5 years.

CAUTION

To prevent damage to the toner cartridge, do not expose it to light for more than a few
