Propagation

Setting Up Propagation

nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn is the IP address of the secondary server.

If the primary server propagates to multiple secondary servers, the message sequence is displayed for each secondary server.

Step 7. Start the kdcd and the propagation daemon on the secondary server and verify whether the daemons have started

1.Start the kdcd daemon

#/opt/krb5/sbin/kdcd

2.Start the propagation daemon

#/opt/krb5/sbin/kpropd

3.Verify that propagation has occurred on the secondary server by using the kdb_dump utility to view the contents of the principal database on the secondary server. The existence of recently-added principal accounts indicates successful propagation.

If you experience difficulty once propagation is started, see “Monitoring Propagation” on page 229, for more information on troubleshooting the problem.
