The time-out period is the time duration for which the switch waits for a reply from the server. Time-out is set to 15 seconds. If two NTP/SNTP servers are specified and neither one is available, then the total time-out is 30 seconds.

You can specify whether to set the system time manually or with an SNTP server:

1.Select System > Management > Time. A screen similar to the following displays.

2.Select a Clock Source:

Local. Date and time are calculated through a local clock source that is based on CPU cycles. Go to step 3.

SNTP. Date and time are selected through an SNTP server. Go to step 5

3.When setting the date and time through a local clock source, enter the following:

a.Date. Specify the date to which the switch is set in the DD/MM/YYYY format.

b.Local Time. Specify the switch time in the HH:MM:SS format.

4.Time Zone. Select the local time zone in which the switch is operating.

5.When setting the date and time through an SNTP server, enter the following settings:

a.In the NTP Server IP - 1 field, specify the IP address of the primary NTP/SNTP server for the switch to use when synchronizing time.

b.In the NTP Server IP - 2 field, specify the IP address of alternate NTP/SNTP server for the switch to use when synchronizing time.

6.Click Apply to confirm any settings changes.
