Clearing a media jam
If the printer has frequent media jams, make sure that you follow these guidelines:
Always use high-quality laser paper, recommended labels, and Tektronix
transparencies, glossy paper, and fabric transfer media.
Make sure that you load specialty media only in the Multi-Purpose Tray
and that you set the Media Thickness Switch to the correct setting for the
media used.
To prevent jams, clean the printer’s rollers. See “Occasional cleaning” on
page 107 for details.
If a media jam occurs, the front panel reports Jam at <Location> on the display’s
first line. The <Locations> are the various sensors throughout the paper path,
listed as

A

through

E

. The second line of the display directs you to the location; for
example, Open left side door. Inside the printer’s front door is a label showing
the location for each jam.
