Taktmx

A time average over a sampling interval that uses the highest level occurring during the

preceding Taktmaximal Interval, either three or five s econds, and assumes that it was

present for the whole Taktmaximal Interval.

Third-octave band

A Third-octave band is defined as a frequenc y band whose upper band- edge frequency is

1.26 times the lower band frequency.

Threshold

An SPL value that defines a lower level of acceptab le values. Only SPL samples that exceed

the threshold are used in some calculations.

TWA

Time weighted average. The constant SPL over an 8-h our interv al that would prod uc e the

same exposure to sound as an exposure measured o ver a run time sampling interval (Rtime).

Upper Limit (UL)

The total time during a study that the SPL exceeds t he Upper Limit meter setting.
