5.1.2 Installingthe driver software - Windows NT
Windows NT does not support ‘plug and play’ so there will be no indication that a new car d
hasbeen ins talled. Thedevice driver for N extMove PCI must be installed from the Baldor
MotionToolkit CD.
1. Place the Baldor Motion ToolkitCD into the CDROM drive. TheCD shouldauto-run and
display the opening page. Ifauto-run is disabled, brows e the CD and double click the file
SETUP.HTM.
2. Go to the N extMove PCI area and select the NextMove PCI N T Device Driver option.
Once the device driver has been installed, shut down all applications andrestart the PC.
Thedevic e driver will now be loaded automatically each time Windows is s tarted.
Note: Ifyou are upgrading y our device driver from a previous release, y ou must first
uninstallthe old dev ice driver. Todo this, go to the Windows Control Panel, select
‘Add/Remove Programs’ and then select ‘NextMove PCI Dev ice Driver’ from the
list.
Onthe CD , the Windows NT driver is located in the folder Drivers\nmPCI\winnt.
5.1.3 Installingthe driver software - Windows 2000
TheWindows NTdevice driver is usedwith Windows 2000, but is ins talled differently.
1. After ins talling the NextMove PCI card, turn on the PC.
2. Enter the BIOS anddisable the ‘Plugand Play’ optionor select ‘Operatingsystem is not
plugand play c ompatible’. Exitthe BIOS and allow Window s 2000 to boot normally. When
Windows 2000 has loaded it will enter the Hardware Wizard.
3. Selec t ‘Search for a suitable device driver’, and click Next.
4. Remov e the checks from all the search locations, and c lick Next.
5. Selec t the ‘Disable the device’ option, and click Finish.
6. Res tart the PC. The hardware wizard should not appear this time.
7. The Windows NTdevice driver c an now be loaded. Place the Baldor Motion Toolkit CD
intothe CDROM drive. The CD should auto-run and display the opening page. If auto-run
isdis abled, browse the CD and double click the file SETUP.HTM.
8. Go to the N extMove PCI area and select the NextMove PCI N T Device Driver option.
Note: Althoughthe Windows NTdevice driver wor ks under Win2000, the Device
Managermay r eport a conflict and display the NextMove PCI dev ice along with a !
symbol. This is because the device driver is not s pecifically designed for Windows
2000.This w illnot affec t operation of the NextMove PCI card.
