The Contact List, a list of Canon Help Desks with telephone numbers |

and addresses worldwide, is provided with the printer. Before you call |
| |
for service, however, we recommend that you gather some information |
| |
that will help Help Desk advisors find a solution for your problem. |
| |
Before calling for service, check the printer status, the computer and its |
| |
connection environment and identify the problem for faster assistance. |
| |
Work through the Troubleshooting descriptions of problems and |
| |
solutions to attempt to solve the problem. If you do not have time to do |
| |
this, at least follow the steps below and prepare answers for some basic |
| |
questions you may be asked by the Help Desk advisor. |

Describing the problem |

1. Check the printer. |
| |
| Check the printer status to see if it prints. |

• | The printer does not operate. |
|
| Example: Printer does not switch on. (☞128) |
|
| Printer does not operate. (☞96) |
|
| Paper does not feed from the Feed Slot. (☞107) |
|
| If the problem cannot be identified after checking all the |
|
| connections and attempting to switch the printer on, the printer may |
|
| be damaged. Call for service. | 6 |
• | Printer operates but does not function correctly. |
|
| Examples: Printouts blurred or streaked with white lines. (☞ 92, 133) |
|
| The print head of the BJ Cartridge may be worn out or damaged. |
|
| Print a nozzle check pattern and clean the print heads. (☞56, 85) If |
|
| you cannot solve the problem, call for service. |
