What you need for infrared data transmission

You can use the infrared interface with Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows 2000. However, in order to use the infrared interface, your computer should meet the following requirements.

Computer

IBM PC/AT or a compatible computer

CPU

Intel Pentium or faster

 

 

IrDA

IrDA 1.1 or later

 

 

Baud rate

Max. 4 Mbps

(transmission speed)

 

Infrared transmission device

Built-in infra-red port on the computer,

 

or an infrared transmission adapter

 

connected to the parallel or serial port.

Operating system

Windows 98/Windows 2000

 

 

If you are using Windows 95, you need IrDA 1.0 with a maximum baud

rate of 115.2 kbps, and the Microsoft infrared port driver version 2.0.

Confirming that the infra-red transmission driver has been installed

Follow this procedure to confirm that the infra-red transmission driver has been installed.

Click the Start button, point to Settings, and click Control Panel to open the Control Panel window.

Look at the Control Panel window and confirm that the Infrared Monitor icon is displayed.

If the Infrared Monitor icon is displayed, the required infra-red transmission driver has already been installed.

If the Infrared Monitor icon is not displayed, refer to your Windows manual for instructions on installing the infrared port.

If you are using Windows 95 and the Infrared Monitor icon is not displayed, close the Control Panel window and follow the procedure below.
