conductor should be connected to the appliance studs with a closed two-hole crimp terminal. The ground conductor provides proper grounding only for the appliance. You must provide additional, proper grounding for the rack.

Grounding Connections

To ensure the appliance chassis ground connection is adequate, you will need the following parts and tools:

10-to-14 AWG copper ground wire (insulated or noninsulated)

Wire-stripping tool for stripping both 10- to 14-AWG copper ground wire

Crimping tool as specified by the ground lug manufacturer

Torque wrench

Caution Before making connections to the Cisco ADE 2130 and 2140 Series appliance, ensure that you disconnect the power at the circuit breaker. Otherwise severe injury or damage to the appliance may result.

Warning This equipment must be grounded. Never defeat the ground conductor or operate the equipment in the absence of a suitably installed ground conductor. Contact the appropriate electrical inspection authority or an electrician if you are uncertain that suitable grounding is available. Statement 1024

Warning Use copper conductors only. Statement 1025

Warning When installing the unit, the ground connection must always be made first and disconnected last. Statement 42

To ground the Cisco ADE 2130 and 2140 Series appliance:

Step 1 Locate the two 10-32 ground studs on the appliance rear panel. (See location 3 in Figure 1-5 on page 1-9.)

Step 2 Remove the ground-lug nuts from the studs.

Step 3 Set the nuts aside.

Step 4 If your ground wire is insulated, use a wire-stripping tool to strip the 10-AWG ground wire for the ground lug. (See Figure 3-10.)
