Cleaning solvent soak — if a manual cloth wipe fails to recover enough jets, you can soak the thin foam pad that ships with the printer with SolaChrome-HR cleaning fluid, then cap the printheads with this pad overnight as shown (Fig. 5-4 on page 5-9).

DO NOT USE ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL ON THE PRINTHEADS.

From the menu, select Maintenance - Printhead Proce- dures - Cleaning Solvent Soak. This process empties the printheads of ink, fills them with cleaning solvent, and prompts you to cap the heads. After several hours (over- night), uncap the printheads and the process is reversed.

This procedure shoud only be performed if necessary to recover jets. Using this as a routine preventative measure is unnecessary and ineffective.
