2 Press ENTER. The LCD either shows:

P1:No Number

… or indicates a command is already programmed into this key.

If P1 is the key you want to program, skip to step 4. (However, our examples from here will say P3” rather than P1.”)

3 Select the key in which you want to program a command or change a previ- ously stored command and then press it. Here, we select P3.

4 If you decide to select a different programmable one-touch key, go back to step 3 before going on to step 5.

5 Press ENTER. The LCD now shows briefly:

P3:Fax Number

then it will show either:

or 9-555-7312_

6 Use the numeric keypad to enter the number exactly as your machine should dial it, including whatever codes your phone system requires. The number can be up to 40 characters in length:

9-555-0629_

Important: Do not press ENTER.

Your display can show only 16 characters at a time. To view characters beyond those 16, press to scroll to the left or to scroll to the right.

Note: If you make a mistake or want to erase previously entered numbers, press CANCEL to erase to the left. Or to change just one character in the number, press to move the cursor to the left, or to move it to the right, to that character and press CANCEL to erase it. Then re- enter until the number is just as you want it.

7 Now, while you can still see the fax number on the LCD, press COM-OPTIONSfive times. The LCD shows:

8 Press ENTER. The LCD shows briefly:

Enter SubAddress

9 Enter an ITU-Tsubaddress for the box to which you want to send the docu- ment. The ITU-Tsubaddress can be up to 20 characters in length and can include any combination of numbers and the * and # symbols. Do not include other non-numerical characters.

In this example, we enter 6*54321#.

10 Press ENTER. The display will show briefly:

Note: If you know that this ITU-Tsubaddress does not have a ITU-Tpass- word, skip to step 12.

11 Enter a appropriate ITU-Tpassword for the box. The ITU-Tpassword can be up to 20 characters in length and can include any combination of numbers and the * and # symbols (but no other non-numerical characters). In this example, we enter 1*23456#1.

Note: If you make a mistake, press CANCEL to back up, then enter the cor- rect number.

When the entry is complete, press ENTER.

12 If you want the transmission to begin immediately every time you press the key, press ENTER again and skip to step 15.

If you want to delay the transmission, press COM-OPTIONS,COM-OPTIONS,

ENTER.
