
Managing System Power
In the Windows® 2000 and Windows® 98 Second Edition (98 SE) operating system environments, your NEC Versa notebook manages its power resources using the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) while the system is powered on using AC or battery (DC) power. ACPI enables the operating system to manage the power given to each attached device and to turn off a device when not in use.

Windows 2000 Power Options Properties
In Windows 2000, most ACPI power management settings are controlled through Windows Power Options Properties, not through the BIOS Setup utility. To access Windows 2000 Power Options Properties, go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, and double click Power Options.
