28 Text Entry Operations
Word Entry (Word T9) Mode
Word Entry (Word T9) mode allows you to quickly type text with the aid of a
built-in d ic tion a r y. When you pr es s each key t hat corresponds to the
character needed just once, the built-in dictionary suggests probable word
choices.
Using Word Entry (Word T9) Mode
You are in Word Ent ry (Wor d T9) m ode when , , or is
displayed in the bott om ri g ht cor ner. To select one of the Word En try
modes, pr ess until the appropri at e m ode is displayed. Onc e i n Word
Entry mode, you can switch bet w een initia l ca pit al s, uppercase , and
lowercase by pressing .
For exampl e, t o ent er the w or d “first” in Word Entry mode:
•Press once.
•Press once.
•Press once.
•Press once.
•Press once.
The word “first” should ap pear on the sc reen.
Keep in mind...
•As letters ar e entered, the di ct io na ry dis pl ay s pr obable wo rd s.
Several di fferen t wo rds can appear on t he display during the
ent ering proc ess. Do n’t be distracted by the words displayed—they
may not res em ble your int ended wo rd . Ju st keep typing until you
see the word you want.
•If the word dis pl ay ed w hen you have finished enteri n g th e le t te rs
does not match your intended word, press to scroll through other
words with t he same ke y sequence.
•Press (OK) to select the word; press , or to move to
the next w or d.
•Pre ss once to delete the l ast-entered character. Pres s and hold
to delete th e ent ire ent r y.
•The key enters a space onl y.
Note: If you have changed your phone’s lang uage option , the
Word Entry dictionary changes to agree with the selected
language.
