54 Additional Operations

Note: When you pu rc hase your phone, Quiet m ode has the
fol l owi ng s et tin gs : ri ng an d k ey volume are mu te d; vi br at i on ale rt
is on; ring and message alerts are set to General ring 1; and
warning t ones ar e t urned off.
Because you can modif y t he settings in both Normal mod e and
Quiet mode, you coul d ch ange the ring and key volume settings
in Quiet mode to maximum volume; cha nge the rin g and
message alerts to a melody; or turn on warning tones. However,
would st i ll ap pear on your display. You coul d al so mute ring
and key volumes in Normal mode. Be sure you know which
Alert mode you are in when you customize the tone settings.
Yo u can quickly re st or e t he default sett ings in both modes to
their original values by selecting Reset Defaults in the
Misc el lane ous m enu. See Reset Defaults on page 58 for all the
default se tti ngs.
To select ei t her Normal or Quiet mod e from standby, press and
hold .

1From standby, press (MENU ) to ent er the M ain Menu.
2Press to scroll to Phone Setting s. Press (OK).
3Press to scroll to Alert Mode. Press (OK).
4To chan ge the setting, sc r oll to t he other opti on (Normal Mode or
Quiet Mode) and press (OK).
If Quiet Mode is selected, is displayed.

Setting the Alarm

You can set tw o t ypes of alarms: a scheduled, one-time ala rm or a dai l y
alarm. You can program your phone for up to 10 alarms, each with its own
specifi c m essage disp la y. Even if your phone is turne d off at the t ime set
for an alarm, the phone t ur ns i tsel f on and the alarm is act ivat ed. This
allows you to r educe batte ry usa ge and also use your phone as an ala rm
clock.
Caution: De-activate any al ar m s th at w ould sound during the
time you a re in a place where cel lul ar phone use is prohibited
for example, on an aircraft or in a hospital.
