6 – Removal/Replacement Fans

6.6.1

Removing a Fan

To remove a fan, loosen the two captive screws shown in Figure 6-8with a flat- blade screw driver. Grasp the fan by the screws and pull firmly to disengage the fan from the backplane connector. Slide the fan out of the chassis.

WARNING!! Voltage is present in an open bay when the switch is operating. To avoid personal injury, do not place hands or objects into an open bay.

To avoid overheating, do not operate the switch without a fan any longer than it takes to install a new fan.
