Error Codes

Error Codes

Fax machines use a telephone line. The same types of problems you experience while making phone calls (such as noisy lines, crosstalk, disconnection during conversation, and weak signals) also occur with faxing. Telephone callers can deal with the problems themselves (for example, by speaking a bit louder), but fax machines cannot. Therefore some errors and line failures are to be expected.

When an error occurs, an error report is printed. This report includes an error code. The following table lists common error codes and a few of the possible causes. If any of these or any other error codes persistently appear and the machine does not work properly, contact your service representative.

Note

When an error occurs, it does not necessarily mean that you are doing any- thing wrong or that your machine needs service. Only if the problem persists should you call your service representative.
