Rapid Spanning Tree

When a port running the standard STP is connected, it goes through the STP negotiation

(listening -> learning -> forwarding or blocking) before it is available. If a client is trying to access a server through the switch running STP negotiation, it is not able to connect to it immediately. This can be a problem for some networks. RSPT solves the problem by setting the port directly to forwarding mode. Therefore, any server access request is forwarded. RSPT is used on end node ports (ports connected to PCs or servers) and not on uplink ports to other switches.
