Installing the System Board

CAUTION: Only trained service technicians are authorized to remove the system cover and access any of the components inside the system. See your Product Information Guide for complete information about safety precautions, working inside the computer, and protecting against electrostatic discharge.

1Transfer the processors to the new system board. See Figure 6-2 for the location of the system board connectors.

NOTE: Do not install the heat sinks at this time.

2Remove the memory modules and transfer them to the same locations on the new board. See "Removing Memory Modules" on page 61 and "Installing Memory Modules" on page 60.

3Install the new system board:

a Lower the right side of the system board into the chassis.

b Slowly lower the left side of the system board into the chassis.
