6.Set FastPort so that it boots on its alternate flash file.

a.Toggle front switch D4. If it is in the up position, place it down. If it is in the down position, place it up.

b.Power cycle the unit.

c.Toggle front switch D1 up and down at least 10 times.

d.Reset switches to normal mode.

e.Power cycle the unit.

When powered-up, the unit boots-up on its alternate bank. If the device fails to recover, notify Digi’s LAN technical support.

F.1.1.1 Restoring the Alternate Bank Image

1.Access the flash commands by running a serial monitor link, running a telnet monitor, or loading ACT.

2.Use the Copy This Image to Other Bank command to update the alternate bank image.

F.1.2 Completing the Upload

Flash holds two firmware images. A new image is stored in the main bank; the old image is stored in the alternate. To compare the images, use the flash command Restart in Other Bank. Once satisfied with the new firmware, copy it to the alternate bank; now both banks have the same image. If the new image does not work, copy the alternate bank image into the main bank. Both banks should be the same. Finalize the upload in this way because:

Alternate update is automatically used if the main bank is corrupt. This could cause confusion if it is different.

Some parameter storage operations require both banks to be identical. This may fail if the banks are not identical.

To update the alternate bank image:

Use the Copy This Image to Other Bank command to update the alternate bank image. To revert to the old version:

1.Return to the old version: Restart in Other Bank command.

2.Use the Copy This Image to Other Bank command.
