To view this menu from the pull-down menu, select Show node properties from the Window pull-down menu.

To change a nodes name:

a.Click once on the desired node. The line is highlighted and the current name appears on the right-hand side of the screen. Unless given a name, UNKNOWN is displayed.

b.Enter a name into the box. The new name now appears in the node property field.

To make a device invisible, deselect the Visible box. Again, located on the right-hand side of the menu.

Click on Show Traps to display traps for a device. For this function to work on this parameter, your system must be designated to receive trap. See Chapter 10 for more information on Traps (page 10-4).

Click OK when you are finished.

9.4.10SNMP Fault Trace

From the Window menu, select SNMP Fault Trace to be “On” or “Off” (default). There are times when an SNMP session cannot be opened because of a variety of errors. When this happens, an error message appears. With this option selected, the software counts the times that error occurred “without” displaying the error message. The number of times the error occurred is displayed on the status bar (Figure 9-6).
