Note: The Ethernet Management port must be enabled, or brought up, before it can be configured. Enter this command before assigning the port IP and gateway addresses (some gateway functions are not supported by HP InfiniBand).

The Ethernet Management port does not have to be specifically identified, like the ports of expansion modules. This is because there is only one active Ethernet Management port on the chassis.

When the Ethernet Management port is disabled, its current configuration remains intact. If there are problems configuring the Ethernet Management port, first check that the admin-status field in show interface mgmt-ethernet output is set to up.

Enabling/Disabling the Management-InfiniBand port:

The Management-InfiniBand port provides Telnet, SSH, and Element Manager access from InfiniBand hosts running IPoIB that are connected to any of the InfiniBand ports on the system InfiniBand interface (Element Manager GUI is not supported in initial release of HP InfiniBand).

The interface mgmt-ib command is used to enable and configure the IP addresses for the virtual port and gateway on the InfiniBand fabric. Once configured, hosts connected to any InfiniBand switch port that run IPoIB may use the port and gateway to administer the system chassis (some gateway functions are not supported by HP InfiniBand).

The Management-InfiniBand port assignment is recognized throughout the entire InfiniBand fabric. Any InfiniBand host connected to any InfiniBand interface port may access the Management-InfiniBand port. Connected hosts may be disconnected and then reconnected to any other InfiniBand interface port without having to redefine the Management-InfiniBand port.

One Management-InfiniBand port may be assigned. The Management-InfiniBand interface must be configured before you can use it.

You must configure the Management-InfiniBand port through the serial-console terminal.

Examples: The following example shows enabling interface card 12.

HP-IB# config

HP-IB(config)# card 12

HP-IB(config-card-12)# no shutdown

HP-IB(config-card-12)#

The following example shows enabling the interface Management Ethernet port.

HP-IB# configure

HP-IB(config)# interface mgmt-ethernet

HP-IB(config-if-mgmt-ethernet)# no shutdown

The following example shows enabling the interface Management IB port.

HP-IB# configure

HP-IB(config)# interface mgmt-ib

HP-IB(config-if-mgmt-ib)# no shutdown
