Configuring and running Serviceguard or Serviceguard Extension for RAC with IPoIB interfaces

The following procedure assumes that a specific set of IPoIB interfaces (i.e., HCA ports) has been preconfigured for applications.

1.Identify all IPoIB ports that are configured for the application on each node.

2.Configure IP addresses for these interfaces using /etc/rc.config.d/netconf file.

3.Issue cmquerycl -v [-n <node>] [-q <quorum server>] -C on the cmclconfig.ascii fileto discover cluster configuration which include IPoIB interfaces.

4.Verify the cmclconfig.asciifile for correct IPoIB interfaces and subnet information, and make sure that all primary and standby IPoIB interfaces that are used for heartbeat traffic must match with the information found in step 1.

5.Issue cmapplyconf -v -C on the cmclconfig.ascii file to apply the desired configuration.

Serviceguard imposes the same heartbeat requirements for IPoIB as similar to other LAN interfaces. Therefore, a warning message is displayed from the output of cmapplyconf command in step 5 above if the minimum heartbeat requirements are not met:

Minimum network configuration requirements for the cluster have not been met. Minimum network configuration requirements are:

2 or heartbeat networks1 heartbeat network with local switch (HP-UX only) OR1 heartbeat network with serial line (HP-UX only) OR1 heartbeat network using APA with 2 trunk members (HP-UX only) OR1 heartbeat network using bonding (mode 1) with 2 slaves (Linux only)6.Issue cmruncl to start the cluster.

7.Issue cmviewcl to verify that the IPoIB interfaces are running in the cluster.

Switch Administration and Management

This section gives an overview of the Command Line Interface (CLI), which is used to manage only the switch in the HP Fabric Clustering System. For information on managing the HP-UX host, refer to “HP-UX Host Administration and Management” (page 56).
