12.3.3 Cordless handset
I cannot page a cordless
handset or base unit.
LThe called cordless handset is too far from the base unit.
LThe called unit is in use. Try again later.
Caller information is not
displayed.
LYou have not subscribed to Caller ID service.
LThe caller requested not to send his/her information.
LDepending on the service of the local telephone company, caller
information may not be displayed on the cordless handset in
TEL/FAX mode. In this case, change the TEL/FAX ring setting to 1
(feature #78 on page 66).
While viewing caller
information, the display
returns to standby mode.
LDo not pause for over 1 minute on the cordless handset or 3
minutes on the base unit while searching.
Problem Cause & Solution
The cordless handset
does not work.
LMake sure that the batteries are installed correctly (page 6).
LFully charge the batteries (page 8).
LClean the charge contacts and charge again (page 8).
LTurn the cordless handset power OFF, then ON (page 18).
LCheck that the power cord is connected properly.
LThe cordless handset has not been registered to the base unit.
Register the cordless handset (page 75).
LRe-install the batteries (page 6) and fully charge them.
The cordless handset
display is blank.
LThe cordless handset is not turned ON. Turn the power ON (page
18).
The cordless handset will
not turn ON.
LMake sure that the batteries are installed correctly (page 6).
LFully charge the batteries (page 8).
LClean the charge contacts and charge again (page 8).
w is flashing. LThe cordless handset is not registered to the base unit. Register it
(page 75).
LThe cordless handset is too far from the base unit. Move closer.
LThe power cord is not connected. Check the connections.
LYou are using the cordless handset or base unit in an area with
high electrical interference. Locate the cordless handset and base
unit away from interference sources, such as antenna and mobile
phones.
The cordless handset
does not ring.
LThe night mode feature is turned ON. Turn it OFF (page 33).
LThe ringer volume is turned OFF. Adjust it (page 18).
The batteries should be
charging but the battery
icon does not change.
LClean the charge contacts and charge again (page 8).
LThe AC adaptor is disconnected. Plug in the AC adaptor.
A busy tone is heard when
{C} is pressed.
LThe cordless handset is too far from the base unit. Move closer and
try again.
LThe base unit or another cordless handset is on an outside call.
Wait for the other user to complete the call.
Static, sound cuts in/out,
fades. Interference from
other electrical units.
LMove the cordless handset and the base unit away from other
electrical appliances.
LMove closer to the base unit.
