2. Windows98 Setup
If the Dial-Up Networking icon is not in My Computer, it is not installed. You can use the following procedure to install it.
(1) Click the Startbutton, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
(2) Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
(3) Click the Windows Setuptab, click Communications, and then click the [Details] button.
(4) Click the Dial-Up Networking check box, and then click the [OK]button.
Click OK again, and follow the instructions on your screen.
wIf more than one modem is connected, click the tab at the top of the box and select a modem to use.
eCheck Allow caller access.
rClick the [Change Password...]button.
The Dial-Up Networking Passworddialog box is displayed.
tEnter a password, and then click the [OK]button
Type the same password as used to set up the connection and modem/TA.
yClick the [Server Types...]button to display the Server Types dialog box.
uFor Types of Dial-Up Servers, select PPP:Internet, Windows NT Server, Windows98.
iIn the Advanced options field, remove checks from Enable software compressionand Require encrypted password.
oClick the [OK] button.
The screen returns to the Dial-Up Serverdialog box. Click the [OK] button.
qClick the icon on the taskbar to display the Dial-Up Serverdialog box.
