PROFIBUS DP lines can be connected to a SIMATIC PCS 7 au- tomation system (controller) via up to 4 internal interfaces in the CPU and up to 10 additional CP 443-5 Extended communica- tions processors.

If a module slot provided in the CPU for the PROFIBUS connec- tion is still vacant, an IF 964-DP interface module is required in addition. When using data set routing with SIMATIC PDM, use of the CP 443-5 Extended communications processor is essential for the PROFIBUS connection.
